On January 18, 2023, the Peruvian Navy sailing training ship " BAP Union", led by its captain, José Arce, arrived at a military port in Shanghai and began a five-day goodwill visit. This is the first time the sailing training ship " BAP Union" has visited Shanghai and the fourth time a Peruvian navy ship has visited Shanghai.
At about 8 o'clock in the morning, the military band of a naval base in the Eastern Theater Command played a welcome song at the pier, and a welcome banner was raised on the spot to hold a warm welcome ceremony for the visiting sailing training ship " BAP Union".
During the visit, officers and soldiers of the two navies will carry out activities such as visits to each other's warships, professional and technical exchanges, and cultural and sports activities. The Peruvian Navy will organize "Future of Peru", agribusiness seminars and other events. After the visit, the sailing training ship " BAP Union" will conduct joint maritime exercises with Chinese naval vessels focusing on formation movements and communications.
The " BAP Union" sail training ship is 115.75 meters long, 13.6 meters wide, has a displacement of 3,881 tons, 34 sails, a sail area of 3,538.75 square meters, and a maximum speed of 12 knots. During this visit, a total of 248 officers and soldiers accompanied the ship, including 24 officers, 124 soldiers, 1 employee and 99 trainees.
